Travelled in BMW to Preserve Plant Earth (“PPE”)

Protecting The Environment – 7th Area of Focus in Service Projects in New Rotary Year 2020-21.
One of the 3 Top Priorities of Services advocated by our District Governor 2020-21 Dr. Eric Chak .
President Colin Chau kicked off his first club service project – Tree Planting , under 32degree C on the 4th day of New Year with 9 club members – People of Action

For our Rotarians, commuting with BMW means minimizing spoilage to environment; BMW stands for Bus, MTR & Walk. On 4th Jul 2020, Rotary Club of Hong Kong North Point advanced with Agency for Volunteer Service (“AVS”) to implant saplings to mother nature. A team of Rotarians woke up early, like weekdays, for our 1st Service Project on PPE. Blessed with a bit of rain in the previous night and a bit of cloud on the day, it was an ideal condition for gardening in our backyard. Our Rotarians showed great teamwork and our sweat hopefully nourished soils along the way. Also, all of us became delicacy for mosquitoes in the course of dedication.

9 Rotarians from HK North Point together with 3 Volunteers from AVS carried gardening tools and 24 saplings deep into Shing Mun Country Park. The service project started at 9am and finished at 12pm; collectively, completed 36 man-hours of service to start Rotary year 2020-21.

After our blood being munched by mosquitoes, we were joined by more Rotarians for a yummy fellowship luncheon at 蓮香棧.

To wrap up the day, few of our Rotarians brought cakes to 保良局方樹福堂兒童及青少年發展中心 for children in the center as afternoon tea.

We look forward serving the community more in the time ahead.
