Hearing Health for Elderlies

There is a saying of “No matter rain, hail or shine, life must continue.” With COVID-19, it is a different story where any adversity must be handled with cautions.
After several health scare, Rotary Club of Hong Kong North Point finally completed the service project on “Hearing Health for Elderlies” on 28 March 2021 in much smaller scale than originally planned. While we could have waited until COVID-19 situation improved, it does not help beneficiaries in need of such services whom are elderlies deeply impacted with hearing problems, including: communications, isolations and awareness of surroundings.
Our President, Colin CHAU, is grateful for helpings from our PDG CP Dr. Eric CHIN, PP Peter PANG, PE Carlos TAM, PN Johnson LAI, VPE Anne LOH, RAC Matthew SHUM and RCC Monitia; a special thanks to external volunteers (family & friends) including Dr. Arthur WONG, health-carer May NG, Tony POW and Cherry.
Thank you to our NGO partner, The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (from Tung Chung), for the venue and identifying elderlies in need. The project involved Dr. Arthur WONG providing ear examination followed by cleaning, with assistance from May NG, before receiving consultation from our Audiology Specialist (Johnson LAI). Afterwards, our Rotarians, Rotaractors and friends helped with adjusting the hearing aid according to the results generated from hearing examination. It was truly satisfying to see smiling faces of our beneficiaries as they left the center.
