Mental Health First Aid training

Mental health is a vital aspect of overall well-being; it is a key focus for Rotary International and District 3450 this year.

The Rotary Club of Hong Kong North Point (“RCHKNP”) is one of the sponsor clubs supporting District 3450’s mental health initiatives. Rtn. Samantha Pei, representing RCHKNP, completed the Mental Health First Aid training earlier this Rotary year, becoming one of the first batch of Mental Health First Aid graduates and a Mental Health Ambassador, participating in District 3450’s mental health service projects.
On 12 May 2024, Rtn. Samantha Pei attended District 3450’s Mental Health Services Closing Ceremony cum Giant Zentangle Experience. The event featured insightful speeches from leaders of various supporting units, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the organizations for their support over the Rotary year on mental health initiatives, as well as uplifting youth music performance, making this event an enjoyable and inspiring occasion, especially as it was held on Mother’s Day!
A major highlight of the event was the co-creation of a Giant Zentangle artwork, collaboratively by over 300 participants, including individuals from different NGOs, involving many elderly and youth. Under the guidance of a skilled Zentangle teacher, participants learnt to create Zentangle patterns, embracing the technique as a means of practicing mindfulness and focusing on the present for their well-being.
The resulting art piece is a profound symbol, representing the significance of this ceremony, the power of art therapy, and the collective effort in promoting mental well-being. Together, we can create hope in the world and make a positive impact!
