Rotary D3450 Area 13x Tung Chung Rural Committee x Towngas x NAAC

The first A13 joint clubs service project called “Town and Country Integrated Lunar New Year Respect for the Elderly Poon Choi Feast.” (Chinese Name:  東涌鄉開開心心繽紛日東涌炮台城鄉共融新春敬老盆菜宴暨 新界鄉議局迎100 周年活動巡禮「東涌篇」) was successfully organized by Eight Rotary Clubs under D3450 Area 13 on 8 February 2025.

We, RCHKNP, had fully supported the event with active participation to show our commitment in providing meaningful and memorable projects to the community.

The event was a resounding success, attracting over 800 elderly residents from Tung Chung and families from ethnic minority communities in 62 tables , coupled with 11 tables of 8 clubs and 7 tables of Sponsors, a total of 1000 + attendees to enjoy the Poon Choi feast. We were honored to have distinguished Rotary guests in attendance, including DG Nigel Lo and Mr. Nick CHAN Hiu-fung, BBS, MH, JP, Member of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, Honorary member of Rotary Club of Hong Kong North Point as Officiating Guests, DGN CP Jimmy Lau, among others. Our Rotary members also took the initiative to arrange various service projects for the beneficiaries and organized several performances for entertainment. The numerous smiles and expressions of joy from all participants were a testament to the event’s success.

Our Club invited Bgirl Little Chan Kayi and team Bboy Tsang Tsz Wah who are also representatives of Hong Kong breakdancing athletes. They are both members of the Hong Kong breakdancing team Good Job Brother and have represented Hong Kong in international competitions, including the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games Breakdancing Competition. Kayi was our Rotary Rookie Stars first year student in 2011 when they are teens in secondary school . Our member Ron Leung , a social worker , was also our first year rookie stars student in 2011, served as MC to introduce the break dance team.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council (NAAC) for their comprehensive support, particularly in logistical arrangements. We also express our sincere thanks to the Tung Chung Rural Committee and Towngas for their generous sponsorship and collaboration. Their contributions were instrumental in ensuring the success of the Lunar New Year Respect for the Elderly Poon Choi Feast.

Last but not least, RCHKNP would also like to extend our best wishes to all club members and friends for a healthy, wealthy, and prosperous Year of the Snake.
