`Mid-Autumn Festival is meaningful as it represents “reunion of families”. Since the wave of emigration has started after pandemic, lots of elderly becomes alone without adequate family members care.
On September 20, 2025, Rotary Club of Hong Kong North Point has hosted a service project with the suggestion of President Kenneth Chan: To bring warmth and festive joy to elderly who do not have opportunity to connect with others. Joining hands together with Amigos in Kwun Tong as coordinated by Rotarian Alex Au, a total of 9 RCHKNP members, rotaractors and friends : President Kenneth Chan , PDG CP Eric Chin, Rotarian Alex Au, Peggy Chan, Athena Ho, Rotractor Caroline Bicu, Ariana Batbayar, Natasha Yan and Tim Wu, went to Lok Wah Estate for packing 100 food bags and split into 2 groups: home visit team and on-site game team, to use different ways for serving total 100 deprived elderly living in Lok Wah Estate, one of the oldest public estate in Hong Kong.
During our visits of 30 elderly households, those elderly were very happy when seeing our young Rotaractors, especially for our 2 overseas Rotaractors, Caroline and Ariana, their smiles never ended during the visit and hope us to visit them again in the coming future.
On the other hand, RCHKNP members played interactive games with 70 deprived elderly in the community hall. There were also Tai Chi training and Kung Fu performance by PDG CP Eric Chin, which brought a positive impact for those elderly. Apart from just receiving those food packs, they had a wonderful time with our members and got the quality time to talk to others.
Thank you to our President Kenneth treated us Yum cha Lunch before event and PDG CP Eric Chin offered us afternoon tea after event .
It is good to have quality time to interact with elderly, as they can have the feeling of not alone and have opportunity to get in touch with their neighbourhood, as well as our members. We wish having the opportunity to visit the elderly and bring joy and peace to them in the future!
